A number of stone apes can be found throughout the estate,
including miniature forms embedded in the ham stone fireplace of the State
Bedroom alongside the Farrigdon unicorns. In this painting the fireplace’s oval
form has seemingly become ‘overgrown’ with plant-like forms as though reclaimed
by Nature.
